Made some new artwork for the Rockhouse ladies night… which is really guys night.

Here is a great site for the Espy created by Tundra out of Australia. Very creative and engaging. Somewhat slow at times, but interesting and different. Gave me some great ideas for future developments.

I have been seriously slacking on my personal blog this summer. I have had the fortune of being very busy working on tons of projects with various clients, enjoying the company of friends, becoming a photo buff with my new camera and as spending time with family this hot summer.

The most notable achievement this summer is the continued success of my business that I started in May with a few partners. Balls Marketing has managed to maintain several “in-house” accounts as well as develop projects for a few outside accounts. I have been focused on creating an identity for the new company as well as maintaining the internet presence and portfolio as well as new client efforts. It has been a little overwhelming, but rewarding all the same. I will post about the venture shortly and share all the great links.

The photos above are from our recent trip to Denver that caps a busy summer. Meanwhile, I will be working on updating my personal blog with all the work I have done in the last year and all the photos I have taken with my new camera. Hope ya’ll have been having a great time this summer as well!

I have been creating some materials to expand my self promotion, and as a Graphic Designer you need to step with your best foot forward. So I decided to make some nice simple cards about a week ago. I received the business cards that I ordered from Uprinting.com and I am pleasently suprised by the quality and turnaround. They offer a nice interface to order your printing and proofing online. Their turnaround was remarkably fast, and the product was better than I expected for a $29 print job. The paper quality was thicker then I would expect from a printer in this price range, and the color and trim work was spot on. They definitely give you a bang for their buck. I have used several online printers, and so far, these guys are the best. I recommend.

I really like the style of Samuel Sinaga, aka Flow is King. Nice clean style, interesting, graphic, and it helps he likes Star Wars.

If you want to hear the most hardcore electro madness that Boulder Colorado can serve up, then check out the beat heavy 3OH!3. I am a fan of a lot of music, including some electronic, and this band has brought a clash of styles together that makes a truly unique listen. A little campy in some of their lyrics, the bumping beats and slashing synths make it a catchy album. These guys will have a bright future if they can elevate their writing skills.

Always a good source of inpiration, Flickr showcases the work of the worlds best photographers. Seems like they added some new features to browse random images. Notably, the Interestingness calendar allows you to search images uploaded by day. I checked out my birthday… and was on for an hour or so.

I love illustration with a little bit of humor and wit…. not so much with the stunning illustration, but the cleverness of his work makes me chuckle. Marc Johns.

An incredible archive of music posters that spans decades is what awaits you at GigPosters.com. I stumbled across this a year or so ago and found myself getting lost in it again last night. Some great stuff on here, and some not so great, but it is most interesting to see the styles that are associated with different types of music.
